Ms Mueller received money through the Green Seed Grant to raise monarchs in her classroom. These were the first two born in the classroom and she still has a few others in a chrysalis (the little green pouch you see hanging next to the butterfly in the photo) waiting to come out. She is hopeful that her and the students will be able to do some butterfly releases soon!

**There will be a student council meeting today in room E206 during academic lab. If you filled out the application, please attend today's meeting. The roster has been shared with all teachers.
**Attention Gamers! If you are interested in playing competitive esports for EAWR, there will be an esports meeting after school today in the College and Career Center.
**The cafe is not open during passing periods. You must have a pass from your teacher or you will not be served!
**Picture Day will be on Tuesday, September 6. The flyer given to you by your first hour teacher is incorrectly dated August 26. Lifetouch will be here on September 6 to take photos of all students, faculty, and staff. Seniors, even if you plan to use a senior photo from an outside photographer for the yearbook, get your photo taken by Lifetouch on Picture Day so that you will appear in the Class of 2023 composite photo.
**Students can purchase a fall athletic pass from the Attendance Center for $5. This pass will allow an EAWR student into all fall home games for $5 (football/volleyball) except for IHSA contests. All fall athletes and band members get into fall events for free.
**Senior Big Sisters- We will have our first meeting tomorrow at 2:31pm right after school in room M205 Mrs. Parmentier's room. Any questions, see Mrs. Miller or Mrs. Parmentier.
**The East Alton Soapbox Derby is on Saturday, September 10th. If you would like to volunteer please sign up in the Attendance Center. Volunteers need to arrive at 9:15 am and the event will be over around 2 pm. All volunteers need to meet at the check station by Tropical Sno in East Alton (by the old EA Shop n Save). If you volunteer please wear an Oiler shirt or another appropriate t-shirt plus be sure to sign in and sign out. Again the sign up is in the Attendance Center.
**This Friday the Oiler Varsity Football team will be playing CM at CM High School in Bethalto. Kickoff is 7 pm and the theme for the game is wear white. Please note that no passes will be accepted for the game--the price for students is $2 and adults $4.
**After school tutoring is available in E118 from 2:30-3 everyday.
**This week we will start our 2:30 pm dismissal time and add Academic Lab back into the schedule. It is important that everyone follows the Academic Lab procedures for students leaving class. Students must have a pass or be on a meeting roster in order to leave Academic Lab.
**Guest forms for the Homecoming Dance on Saturday, September 24th are available in the Attendance Center. If a student plans to bring a guest the form must be turned in by September 16th. Rules about which guests can and can’t attend the dance are listed on the form. More information regarding Coronation and the dance will be available in the coming weeks.

**Attention Gamers! If you are interested in playing competitive esports for EAWR, there will be an esports meeting after school in the college and career center on Tuesday August 30th.

**This year, all students should be parking in the gym or north parking lots. If you need a parking pass please stop by the Main Office to get one. Parking passes are free and you must have one in your car.
**Juniors and Seniors: Would you like to be the next Oiler Dan? If you have a lot of spirit and would like to try out, sign up in the attendance center.
**The East Alton First United Methodist Church located at 1001 Third Street in East Alton (across from Eastwood School) is looking for volunteers to help with outside yard clean up from 9-11 am tomorrow. If you are interested in volunteering please sign up in the Attendance Center located in the East Building.

**Today is our first home football game and Spirit Club is sponsoring a tailgate party with free hot dogs, chips, and soda/water for all EAWR students and staff in the bus circle from 6:15-6:45. The theme for the game is maroon and gold and Spirit Club would like all EAWR students to sit in the student section located at the north end of the stadium. Also students will line up on the field for pre-game by 6:45 pm.
